The 5 Most Beautiful Beaches In Cambodia In 2024

Ream Beach Plage Cambodge

When people talk about beaches in Southeast Asia, you usually hear about Thailand Beaches (in Phuket for example), or even the beaches in the Philippines. But after my trip to southern Cambodia, I discovered beautiful beaches that are conveniently not so busy.

So here’s a list of the 5 most beautiful beaches you should absolutely visit during your trip to Cambodia. You’ll also find recommendations for accommodation near those beaches. Let’s start with two beaches that are located on my favorite Cambodian island, Koh Rong Samloem.

1. Koh Rong Samloem Beach

I get so emotional just thinking about it! I spent heavenly days on the small Koh Rong Samloem island. No need to look for the most beautiful beach of the island because you will land there directly via the ferry that comes from Sihanoukville. Just cross the bridge you see in the picture below and you’re there! 🙂

1. Best Beaches in Cambodia - Koh Rong Samloem Beach

This beach has:

  • Fine sand
  • Wooden bungalows nearby
  • Bars and restaurants on the beach
  • Low tourist affluence
  • Crystal clear water

Like I said, you’ll find beautiful bungalows literally a few feet from the water. I also recommend this hotel which has everything you might possibly need and is not very expensive at all.

2. Sunset Beach in Koh Rong Samloem

2. Best Beaches of Cambodia - Sunset Beach in Koh Rong Samloem

The second most beautiful beach on the Koh Rong Samloem island is Sunset Beach and as the name suggests, it’s a great sunset spot.

2. Best Beaches of Cambodia - Sunset Beach in Koh Rong Samloem

Although it should be noted that you will have to cross a jungle for 30 to 40 minutes from the beach where ferries land to reach Sunset Beach, I recommend you avoid doing it alone.

Sunset Beach has:

  • The perfect spot for watching the sunset
  • Very low tourist affluence
  • A volleyball court
  • Great diving/snorkeling spot (equipment rental available on site)

As for accommodation, I recommend renting a tent at Sleeping Trees, definitely a great experience!

3. Otres Beach in Sihanoukville

3. Best Beaches in Cambodia - Otres Beach in Sihanoukville

From Koh Rong Samloem, we’re heading to Sihanoukville to visit the beautiful Otres Beach. This beach is smaller than the previous beaches I mentioned but it is livelier, especially on Saturday nights where you’ll have access to Otres Market.

3. Best Beaches in Cambodia - Otres Beach in Sihanoukville

Otres Beach is kind of the hippie corner of Sihanoukville and has:

  • A good atmosphere
  • The Otres Market on Saturday nights
  • Bars and restaurants on the beach that offer delicious seafood
  • Massages available on the beach

As for accommodation near Otres Beach, I recommend you book this hotel that has a great pool. It is also not expensive at all, a night in a double room costs barely $20!

4. Rabbit Island

In the city of Kep, south of Cambodia, you can hop on a boat that will get you to Rabbit Island. It’s a pretty small island so you can visit the entire place in pretty much no time, an hour at most. You can find the most heavenly beaches there so get your swimsuit ready!

4. Best Beaches in Cambodia - Rabbit Island

Rabbit Island Beach has:

  • Low tourist affluence
  • An human size overall surface area
  • A calm and relaxing atmosphere
  • Restaurants serving the famous Kep crabs

For accommodation, you can rent one of the bungalows of this hotel. It’s certainly not the most luxurious of all hotels but it offers the necessary comfort you will need for a night or two. It’s a bit rustic as you can see but sometimes, it’s what you’re looking for when you travel, right?

5. Ream Beach

5. Best Beaches in Cambodia - Ream Beach

So Ream Beach is a beautiful and almost deserted beach in the National Park that bears the same name (exact location here). This beach has:

  • Low tourist affluence
  • The Ream National Park forest nearby
  • The Ream Pagoda which is also close to the beach

There are no hotels near Ream National Park, so book one in Sihanoukville and make the trip to Ream Beach from there. I loved the nights I spent at this Sihanoukville hotel.

  1. Awesome! Very beautiful baths on several beaches of Cambodia. Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge about holidays.

  2. I’ve never been to Cambodia or Thailand. What puts me off the beautiful beaches of Thailand is the amount of tourists and litter/party vibes destroying the atmosphere. These beaches in Cambodia look so beautiful and unspoilt. I think I will have to choose Cambodia before Thailand. They look like paradise!
