If you’re going to Koh Samui soon or happen to be there already there and want to relax on one or more of the island’s most beautiful beaches, I hear you! I have been in the same situation and after touring the island, I have selected my 7 favorite beaches and listed them for you in this blog post.
This is not a ranking list to be clear because my criteria for that may not be the same as yours. It is therefore just a selection from which you can decide which beach to visit according to your preferences. I will also be recommending a nice hotel near each beach if you’re interested in renting one.

The 7 Best Beaches In Koh Samui
- Chaweng
- Chaweng Noi
- Silver Beach
- Lamai
- Samrong
- Mae Nam
- Bophut
To give you an idea of where each of these 7 beaches is located, I have pinned them on the map below:
1. Chaweng
Chaweng is by far the most popular beach in Koh Samui. It is in this area that the majority of tourists choose to stay so I must say that I was surprised to see that Chaweng’s beach remained clean and tidy despite the tourist affluence. It has a rather large sandbank, crystal clear water, and no rocks around.
There are many hotels on Chaweng Beach and one of my favorites is The Library. The design of this hotel is really beautiful and what is even more unique about it is its outstanding blood-red swimming pool.
2. Chaweng Noi
A little further south is Chaweng Noi, Chaweng Beach’s little sister. It is less crowded than the latter but it is just as pretty. During the night, Chaweng Beach is where big parties take place in Koh Samui, so if you want a quieter place to go for a little night walk, Chaweng Noi is where it’s at.
As far as hotels are concerned, there is the gorgeous Sheraton which is always a great place to stay. The setting is heavenly and the facilities include a wonderful swimming pool as well as a tennis court, a gym, and a spa.
3. Silver Beach
Let’s go south to the beautiful Crystal Bay and its Silver Beach. I think it is the most beautiful beach of Koh Samui! The setting is incredible because the beach is surrounded by beautiful green mountains. A heavenly landscape you should absolutely consider visiting.
There are very few hotels in this bay and the one I recommend is the Crystal Bay Yacht Club. It offers direct access to the beach and its villas are really great!
4. Lamai
Still a little further south is Lamai beach. Wilder and much less crowded than Chaweng, Lamai Beach has become a go-to spot for families with children and couples visiting Koh Samui. It is a quiet beach that is ideal for a relaxing stay.
As far as accommodation is concerned, if you want to relax in a quiet hotel that is located away from the hustle of the city center, go for Rocky’s Boutique Resort. It is a charming resort located right next to the famous Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks.
5. Samrong
Let’s head northeast and get tanned in Samrong Beach. Like Silver Beach, it is located in a bay and is not very crowded. I sort of stumbled upon it while riding my motorcycle.
As far as accommodation is concerned, there are no beachfront hotels but you can book a villa at Samui Bayside Luxury Villas which is located at the bay’s end. The view is breathtaking!
6. Bophut Beach
During my stay in Koh Samui, I loved the fishing village of Bophut, mostly because of its beautiful beach. The view there is really amazing and you can even spot a few neighboring islands. To relax and have a cocktail on this beach, go to Coco Tam’s which is the most famous beach club in Bophut.
If you’re looking for accommodation around Bophut Beach, you can book at the excellent Peace Resort. It is not overly expensive but still offers excellent services.
7. Mae Nam
Last but not least on this list of the most beautiful beaches of Koh Samui is Mae Nam Beach. It is located west of Bophut and is visited by very few people. The only drawback is that Mae Nam is not a very large beach. Other than that it is still a very nice spot.
If you want to spend a few nights in Mae Nam, you can book a room at The Coast Resort & Spa. Keep in mind only adults are allowed so it is mainly suitable for couples or families with children over 16 years old.
